Deep Wind Offshore continues to strengthen its presence in South Korea, securing additional Public Waters Occupancy and Use Permits (PWOP) for its offshore wind projects. With these approvals, Deep Wind Offshore now holds exclusivity for 3 GW of offshore wind capacity, reinforcing its position as a key developer in the country’s renewable energy transition.
The most recent milestone includes securing a PWOP for the Abalone Offshore Wind Project, a crucial step that enables further offshore investigations and accelerates project development.
“This granted PWOP increases the scale and commercial attractiveness of the Abalone project and provides a strong foundation for stable progress going forward. Through close collaboration with our partners and stakeholders, we remain committed to delivering a sustainable offshore wind future,” said John Kang, Country Manager of Deep Wind Offshore Korea.
Earlier, a PWOP was also obtained for the Admiral Lee Offshore Wind Project, allowing essential offshore lidar measurements to proceed. These developments mark significant progress toward realizing Deep Wind Offshore’s ambitions in South Korea.
As the sole developer of these projects, Deep Wind Offshore is committed to driving forward the energy transition with world-class offshore wind expertise.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders, partners, and team members who have contributed to these milestones. It is the dedication and collaboration skills of everyone involved that is paving the way towards the sustainable future,” said John Kang.
